This Privacy Policy describes how Binary Work, LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses information in connection with the Rubber macOS application for Elasticsearch and OpenSearch (the “App”) and any related website or services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Interpretation and Definitions

Interpretation

Capitalized terms have meanings defined under the following conditions. The definitions shall apply regardless of whether they appear in singular or plural form.

Definitions

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

• Anonymous ID means the random identifier the App creates to record your purchases, described in section 3.2.

• Application means the software program provided by the Company, named Rubber, downloaded by you on any electronic device.

• Company refers to Binary Work, LLC, 6890 Avila Valley Dr., San Luis Obispo, CA 93405, United States.

• Device means any device capable of running the Application.

• Personal Data means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

• Rubber Pro means the paid edition of the App, available as an auto-renewing subscription or as a one-time (lifetime) purchase, where offered.

• Service refers to the Application, the Website, or both.

• Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes data on behalf of the Company.

• Usage Data refers to data collected automatically when using the Service.

• You means the individual accessing or using the Service, or the company or other legal entity on whose behalf that individual is using the Service.

The Service does not require you to create an account with us.

2. Overview

Rubber is a standalone GUI tool that enables users to connect to and manage their own Elasticsearch databases. We do not host, access, or store any of your database content, credentials, or query data. All information you view or manipulate within the App remains on your local machine or in your own infrastructure.

Use with OpenSearch

The App may also be used to connect to and manage OpenSearch clusters. Similar to Elasticsearch, we do not host, access, or store any data processed through your OpenSearch environments. All interactions with OpenSearch remain entirely within your control and infrastructure.

Elasticsearch and OpenSearch are independent third-party technologies. Our App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the owners of either technology.

No Cloud Syncing or External Transmission

The App does not transmit your documents, indices, queries, cluster metadata, credentials, or any other database-related information to our servers or to any external service. All database interactions occur directly between your device and your chosen Elasticsearch or OpenSearch environment — or through an SSH host or proxy server that you configure yourself.

What Stays on Your Mac

Your connections, groups, saved requests, open tabs and preferences are stored on your Mac, inside the App's own container. Passwords, API keys, SSH private keys and client certificate keys are stored in the macOS Keychain. None of it is sent to us. A data export you create from the App is a file you control, and it does not contain your secrets.

If you used the previous version of the App (Rubber 1) on the same Mac, the App can import the data that version left behind. The import runs entirely on your Mac; macOS may ask you to allow access to each password the previous version stored in the Keychain.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

We may collect limited Personal Data when you:

• Send us feedback from within the App (Help ▸ Suggest an Improvement). The form sends your name (optional), your email address, your message, the App's version and build number, and your Anonymous ID, if one has been assigned, so that we can reply and look up your purchase if your message is about it. The message passes through our server and is delivered to a private chat of our team on Telegram. Your IP address is used briefly, in memory, to limit repeated submissions, and is not stored.

• Contact us for support by email (e.g., your email address and name).

We do not collect:

• Your database contents, queries, or connection details.

• Any user-generated or stored data from your connected databases (Elasticsearch or OpenSearch).

3.2 Purchases, Subscriptions and Lifetime Licenses

The App is free to use within the limits of its free edition. Rubber Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) and, where offered, as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices and plans are the ones presented in the App at the time of purchase.

All purchases are made through the Apple App Store and processed by Apple. We never receive your payment card details, your billing address or your Apple ID credentials. Apple's handling of your payment is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

To confirm what you have bought and to unlock Rubber Pro, the App uses RevenueCat, Inc., a subscription management service:

• The first time the App asks the App Store about a purchase, it creates a random Anonymous ID. It is not derived from your name, email, Apple ID or device, and it identifies this installation of the App, not you. You can see it in Settings ▸ Help.

• The App sends RevenueCat the Anonymous ID together with the App Store transaction information for your purchases: which product was bought (monthly, yearly or lifetime), purchase and expiration dates, renewal and cancellation status, whether a free trial, promotional or offer code was applied, and the price and currency. As with any internet request, RevenueCat also receives your IP address and basic technical information, such as the platform and the version of the software making the request.

• For subscriptions, changes in status — renewals, cancellations, billing problems and refunds — are also reported by Apple and recorded against the same Anonymous ID.

• For a lifetime purchase, the record of the purchase is kept so that Rubber Pro can be restored on your other Macs signed in to the same Apple ID (Restore Purchases). A lifetime purchase involves no recurring charge and no further billing data.

We use this information to provide and restore Rubber Pro, to answer questions about your purchase, to understand the App's sales in aggregate, to prevent fraud and to meet our accounting and tax obligations. It is not used for advertising, and it is not linked to your name or email address unless you give us your Anonymous ID yourself, for example through the feedback form.

To manage or cancel a subscription, use the subscription settings of your Apple ID; refunds are handled by Apple. See our Terms and Conditions for the terms of purchase.

3.3 Usage Data

The App does not include advertising, analytics or crash-reporting libraries, and it does not send us usage metrics.

• The App keeps a log file and, after a crash, a short crash note on your Mac. They stay there unless you choose to send them to us.

• If you have chosen to share analytics and crash data with app developers in macOS settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated usage statistics for the App. These reports do not contain database content, usernames, passwords, or connection details, and they do not identify individual users.

• When the App asks whether you would like to rate it, the rating is handled by Apple; we do not learn who rated the App or how.

3.4 Website Data

If you visit our website, we may collect standard web log information (e.g., IP address, browser type, referring pages, and time of access).

Our website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at them, your approximate location and your browser and device type. We use it only to understand how the website is used, in aggregate. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

4. Use of Your Information

We may use collected information to:

• Provide Rubber Pro, confirm and restore your purchases, and answer questions about them.

• Maintain and improve the App’s functionality and security.

• Respond to your support inquiries or feedback.

• Diagnose crashes or performance issues.

• Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including accounting and tax obligations.

We do not use Personal Data for advertising, profiling, or resale.

5. Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your Personal Data. We may share limited information only:

• With trusted Service Providers bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations: Apple Inc. (App distribution and payments), RevenueCat, Inc. (purchase verification and subscription management), Google LLC (website analytics), Telegram (delivery of feedback messages to our team), and the provider that hosts our website.

• To comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, or protect our rights and users’ safety.

• In the event of a merger or acquisition, in which case notice will be provided.

Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy: Apple, RevenueCat, Google, Telegram.

6. Data Retention

Support-related correspondence and feedback are retained only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry. Purchase records are retained for as long as they are needed to provide and restore Rubber Pro and to meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations. Diagnostic or analytics data is anonymized and may be retained in aggregated form. We do not retain or store any data from your connected databases.

Data stored on your Mac stays there until you delete it or remove the App together with its data.

You may request deletion of any personal contact information, or of the purchase record kept under your Anonymous ID, by contacting us; please include the Anonymous ID shown in Settings ▸ Help. Deleting the purchase record does not cancel a subscription or remove Apple's own record of your purchase — cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings — and using Restore Purchases later will create a new record from Apple's data.

7. Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard the limited data we handle. The App stores your secrets in the macOS Keychain, and communication with RevenueCat and with our feedback endpoint is encrypted in transit. Because no electronic transmission or storage system is completely secure, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You remain responsible for protecting your own database credentials and access keys.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., the EU and the UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have the right to:

• Request access to or deletion of your Personal Data.

• Request correction or restriction of processing.

• Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.

• Withdraw consent to optional data collection (e.g., website analytics).

Where the GDPR applies, we process purchase information to perform our contract with you (providing Rubber Pro) and to comply with legal obligations; feedback and support messages, and aggregated analytics, on the basis of our legitimate interest in supporting and improving the Service; and website analytics cookies on the basis of your consent where the law requires it.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy rights.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently received such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in the United States, where our company and RevenueCat are based, and in other countries where our Service Providers operate. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure an adequate level of protection consistent with applicable data protection laws.

11. Links to Other Websites

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for their privacy policies or practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of every site you visit.

12. Permissions

The App runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It does not request access to location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. It connects to the network to reach the clusters, SSH hosts and proxies you configure, the App Store and RevenueCat for purchases, and our feedback endpoint when you send feedback. It reads only the files you choose yourself — such as SSH keys, certificates, themes or a data export — and uses the clipboard only when you copy or paste.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on our website with a new “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.

Elasticsearch is a trademark of Elasticsearch B.V. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Elasticsearch B.V.

OpenSearch is a trademark of Amazon Web Services. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon Web Services.

Apple, Mac, macOS and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
